John Jones (of the parish of Denbigh) in the parish of Hopeowen (sic ? Hope) on the 26 August 1756 at one in the night burglariously entered the dwelling house of William Jones. He was also indicted with stealing 48/6 in money at the same time. He was found guilty of both charges - on the first with Thomas Jones and Robert Jones and, on the second with Thomas alone (WALES 4/1005/1). Thomas and Robert were later reprieved and John Jones was ordered for execution on Monday 13 September (WALES 14/85).
(Quarter Session papers for Epiphany 1757) Dieting of prisoners - "from 26 August 1756 to the 16th September following at 8 pence per week for John Jones which was executed being 3 weeks (it is not unusual to find a full week's dieting claimed when a prisoner was executed part way through that week).
